Meet Dr. Dayna Dane

Founder of Chalkboard to Brand | Education Marketing Strategist | Brand Innovator

Dr. Dayna Dane is a marketing strategist with a deep passion for education, and the lived experience to back it up. She earned her B.S. in Apparel, Textiles, and Merchandising from Eastern Michigan University in 2011, later returning in 2017 to pursue a Master’s in Integrated Marketing Communications, obtained in 2019. It was during this graduate program that she stepped into a pivotal role as Director of Integrated Marketing Communications for EMU’s College of Education.

While working within higher education, Dr. Dayna Dane recognized a gap: educational institutions had unique needs that traditional marketing didn’t fully understand, and marketers often didn’t speak the language of educators. She found herself navigating two worlds that rarely connected clearly. Marketers, like herself at the time, struggled with the specialized language of education, while educators seeking marketing help often didn't know how to articulate what they needed.

Determined to bridge that divide, Dr. Dayna Dane went on to earn her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, also from EMU, giving her an insider’s view of both the strategic demands of marketing and the realities of educational institutions.

Out of this dual expertise, she founded Chalkboard to Brand, a consultancy dedicated to helping schools, colleges, districts, and education-based organizations build strong, clear, and impactful brands. With her unique perspective at the intersection of business and education, Dr. Dayna Dane leads clients through storytelling, strategy, and visibility that feels authentic to who they are, and powerful to those they serve.
